Helaman 12:23‏ - February 22, 2016

Helaman 12:23‏ - Therefore, blessed are they who will repent and hearken unto the voice of the Lord their God; for these are they that shall be saved.

Final District picture.

Everyone,
Transfers were today which is why I am emailing so late. President sent me to the furthest area from Hillerød by train which is Frederikshavn with Elder Shuppy. He is in the same MTC group as Elder Reed was. He comes from FRANCIS, UTAH!

Our area is on the tip of Jylland, and includes the highest point in Denmark, Skagen. I was traveling for most of today, and spent over an hour by myself between several stops. The Elder who was supposed to be with me to Aalborg missed the train. It is a weird feeling when you don't have a companion.

Kronborg Slot

We had a district activity last week in Helsingør. We decided to go and see the Kronborg Slot. This is were "Hamlet" is based. The castle was nice, but I loved learning about the history. The best part was walking around the outside, and seeing all the defenses.

Martin is doing fine. It is a little rocky, but he still wants to be baptized. Our lesson was on the Word of Wisdom. By the end he was committed to try to stop. He was a little hesitant at first, but we showed him how he can take little steps to change. I know that Elder Pike will be able to help him.

David Carl and I
A few weeks ago Elder Beck and I found Finn. This week was our return appointment with him. He is very interested in our church, and he even had a hymn book, in ENGLISH. We didn't see that one coming. We discussed the Godhead with him, and want to take Richardt to help with some of the questions.
Stephan

Stephan was baptized on Saturday. He was taught by the Sisters, but we all helped out. He was sick at one point in January, so Elder Pike and I gave him a blessing. We had to arrive early to fill up the font, but it hadn't filled all the way for the baptism. None of us knew what to do, and then a member pulled out the fire hose. This made it the perfect height for the baptism. Sunday Elder Beck gave him the Holy Ghost, and Stephan brought a friend with him. He is already a great missionary.

Me with Anne Marie
We had an eating appointment with a family that we knocked into. The invited us over for dinner. They have three boys, and were really nice to us. The dad had been an exchange student in the US, and his family was LDS. After dinner we asked if they wanted us to come and teach them. They were very welcome, and the dad said that he had tried to model his family from what he had experienced in the US. This was great to hear, and Elder Pike is so excited to teach them.

Happy Birthday Naomi and Papa.

Frederikshavn is a Danish town in Frederikshavn municipality, Region Nordjylland, on the northeast coast of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. Its name translates to "Frederik's harbour". It was originally named Fladstrand.
Frederikshavn was originally called Fladstrand (lit. "Flat beach"), until 1818 when it received status as a merchant town under the name of Frederikshavn, after King Frederik VI.
Due to its advantageous proximity to the entrance to the Baltic Sea, Frederikshavn has historically been a naval base of some strategic importance. Peter Tordenskjold barricaded himself here in the fortress that German troops had already built in the 17th century.
The town has a population of 23,156 (1 January 2014), and is an important traffic portal with its ferry connections to Sweden and Norway. The town is well known for fishing, and its fishing and industrial harbours. The Danish term "frederikshavner" (lit. "Someone from Frederikshavn") is used to denote a quality plaice, probably the most popular fish eaten in Denmark.
Frederikshavn's oldest building, Fiskerklyngen, is originally from the mid-16th century, but the houses now there are from 18th–19th centuries.
