Doctrine and Covenants 9:8 - Week 4

Beautiful castle in our area.
Everyone,

This week has been really busy for us here in Hillerød. First off, winter is coming! It has started to freeze at night, and in the mornings everything is wet and cold. When I say freeze, I mean -1 or -2 degrees Celsius.
We had zone conference on Thursday of this week. It was so fun to see several of my MTC friends, and here about all of their experiences.

To the family...

Everyone,

I wanted to try and answer as many questions as I could for you in this email. Also, here are lots of photos of our apartment.

-I saw Elder Nielson at Zone Conference, and he is doing really well.
-We couldn't see the blood moon here because it was at midnight for us. (I was asleep)
-I don't know where we will see conference, but I know a few of the plans. We will see the Sunday morning at 6pm on Saturday. On Sunday we will watch Saturday afternoon and priesthood. Sunday morning will be at 6pm that night. I don't know when we will watch the Sunday Afternoon session, but I hope it will be the next week.
-It is really cold here. Riding bikes at night is hard because the wind cuts through our clothes. I think about Utah, and how nice the fall must be. Riding bikes is great, and it sometimes I think of The Best Two Years. It is really close to that.

A note from home...

Here are some pictures of Ben's missionary plaque hanging in our church building. He is right next to his good friend, Rhett Robinson, serving now in Texas. We love to look at this plaque whenever we are at church! Six elders and three sisters left this summer from our ward!!!

Week 3: 1 Nephi 15:8

Eating at a member's house with the other elders in the ward.

Everyone,

This week has had some of the highest ridges and lowest valleys. One of the first things is that I got to bike in the rain. Almost everyday there is a light rainstorm, but this week it came down hard. My pants and jacket got soaked, but that's what mission life is all about.

Many of you have been asking about what the food is like here in Denmark. I have a short list of some of the things that I have eaten. We had meatloaf one night, and across the top were strips of bacon. (Papa you might like that) For breakfast we eat toast with butter, cheese, and jam on top. Even though it sounds weird it is really good. One day we tried a Danish open faced sandwich. It had butter, salt, pepper, pickled herring, and onions. I liked this, but it isn't something I would recommend to anyone. Hopefully that gives everyone an idea of some of the foods.

Week 2 in Denmark

A famous street in Denmark!
Everyone,

This week has been very humbling and hard for us. There were some fun times mixed in each day though. As we got groceries on Monday we stopped in the lego section at the Bilka. We looked at all of the cool legos, and I thought about everyone at home. As we went through the section I found a lego mindstorm. (Sam you should know what I am talking about) I checked the price, and found it to be 1000 krones. It was on sale for about 150 US dollars. I wanted to get it, but knew that I still had 2 years to go, and don't have the space to pack it around. Maybe in 2 years there will be another sale. :)

This week I went on splits with our district leader Ældste Kinch. We biked a lot, and my legs are really sore from it. The time I spent with him I really felt like a missionary. We had lessons, and visited several peaple in there area.

Farewell MTC and First Week in Denmark - September 1st

Everyone,

This last week has been a whirlwind. I finished up at the MTC, and for our last devotional we heard President Dalquist. Afterwards I went up to him, and shook his hand. He recognized me, and said that Japan had been great. Bening able to hear from someone I knew the last week was a tender blessing for me.

We got to the airport safely early Monday morning, and made it through. I was able to call home for a few minutes which was wonderful. Elder Erikson's dad came, and he sent the Picture of me. When we got on the plane we all felt like crying. I had a window seat in the back of the plane, and after we took off I could see Grammy and Grandpa Joe's house. It was a cool memory before we left Utah.
