Alma 30:34 - July 25, 2016

And now, if we do not receive anything for our labors in the church, what doth it profit us to labor in the church save it were to declare the truth, that we may have rejoicings in the joy of our brethren?

Everyone,

We did some great service this week. We took bricks off of a house for one of our investigators. Elder Beck has this jack hammer thing, and climbed up the scaffolding to get them all down. I stayed with the chisel and hammer on the ground. They fed us dinner, and agreed to let us come back this week to teach them.

Anne Lise is one of our investigators who just got back from vacation. She wants to be a member, but feels like she can pick and choose which principles she likes. This is really hard, but the branch has helped us to teach her. We went over a few principles to try to help her understand why we do certain things. Most of it was centered on work for the dead.

One thing that I loved about this week was the weather. Almost every day was clear skies, and hot temperatures. It was wonderful. Summer has finally arrived!

Andin met with us again. I was on splits with Elder Murphy. We taught her the Restoration, and the spirit was incredible. I pulled out a Mormons Bog in Indonesian which is were she is from, and her eyes lit up. She was so happy for our lesson. We had to do it by the beach which wasn't the best place. At the end I felt like we had a spiritual cocoon around us during the lesson. All the noise and people everywhere didn't affect us during the lesson. Special blessings come when we are doing the Lord's work.

We have about 20 to 25 active members in the Amager branch, and each week we have anywhere from 2 to 15 tourists from around the world. We are the only missionaries here for this branch. The mission office is about a 30 minute bike ride from our apartment. Elder Beck was in Helsingør for 3 of the transfers that I was in Hillerød. They are in the same ward, so we knew each other before this transfer.

The family that I called "normal" is on a normal Danish vacation. Everyone has work off now, so they all leave. They should be back in two weeks. We have found a few new investigators these past weeks, but it has been a struggle to keep in contact with them.

We stopped a younger couple while contacting by a park near the airport. They had just gotten back from Rome, and were willing to stop and talk to us. They didn't know a lot about our faith, and so Elder Beck started teaching the Restoration to them. Both of them were wearing sunglasses when we started. As the lesson continued they both slowly took them off. We were able to give them a Mormons Bog, but they had a new trip to South America this week. The blessing for us was seeing them gain interest while we taught them.

We ate with the Kramers from the US again. It was so much fun to be with them. One of our former investigators saw us and talked with them for a long time. His dad ended up playing basketball with Elder Beck the next day. Miracles all over the place.

Thank you for everything that you and the kiddles do for me.

Love,
Elder Francis
