It has been a wonderful Christmas here in Hillerød. To be honest it didn't feel like Christmas until after I had called home. It was different this year to wake up at 6:30 and quietly start a normal day. "It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes, or bags! ... Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more."
Thank you for all of the fun cards that were sent. I was able to open several on Christmas day which was so fun. Thank you for all of your kind words. For some it is different, but for me cards help to remember why I am here, and to continue to press on.
This week was a little crazy. Christmas Eve here is the 23rd, and Christmas lasts until the 26th. The streets have been very quiet here, and everything was closed for the last half of the week. Elder Halversen and I walked on the gågade a few times, and there was no one there. We thought that we lived in a ghost town because it was so quiet. At one point Elder Halversen said that he was wondering what time it was so he looked at the sun. He couldn't tell if it was rising or setting, so he looked at his watch and it was noon. We both had a good laugh with that one.

We spent a lot of time caroling this week. We did some in Helsingør and in our own area. We received two referrals from this, and the people that we sang to were very happy.
Christmas here was so much fun. We had it with the Bendicas in our ward. They had their family with them, and 5 grandsons. It was great to be with kids close to our same age. We had a wonderful dinner with them, and for dessert we had rice pudding. It has chopped almonds in it, and they put in one whole one. Whoever finds it gets a prize.
Afterwards we sang and danced around the Christmas Tree. They had everyone choose a song, so it was a long time (Like 30 minutes). Instead of having electric lights they had candles which made it look really cool. Afterwards they passed out gifts one at a time. Elder Halversen and I were quite suprised when they gave us some. We both got a mug and shampoo. It was a great huggeligt Christmas.
The 25th was with the Andersens, and we ate the leftovers from the night before. Afterwards they had us Skype to our families which was wonderful. When we finished we talked about how our families were doing, and about missionary work.

The 26th was one of the longest meals I have ever eaten. We started at 2 and ate a four course meal for over 3 hours. It was crazy. The family had prepared a Danish lunch for us, so I ate a few things that I had never seen or heard of.

Some big things happened on Sunday for us. There is a young man in the ward going on a mission to Canada. He baptised his little brother when I got here, and got his mission call a few weeks later. He had his farewell yesterday, and leaves in January for the Provo MTC. During guest class several of his friends came who weren't members. Elders Beck and Hendricksen did a great job of teaching and answering their questions. We were invited to lunch at their house after church, and my MTC teacher Søster Paulsen was there. I have learned a lot since the MTC, and we had a short conversation all in Danish.

As we move in to a new year we think of goals that you want to achieve. When you think of your goals think of how they will help you develop into who you want to be, and how they will build Christlike attributes in you.
